She refuses to talk but don't let that fool you!

Before dinner tonight, I had put some items on the table and went back into the kitchen. When I returned I found her with a tower of food! Earlier today I had brought up a basket of laundry from the basement and went into another room for a few minutes. Once again, Kaci went into action as soon as I left the room! You may not be able to hear her but you sure have to keep an eye on her! She's smart! And she's quick! If anyone whispers the word gum, she races to the cabinet for a piece.
Now if she will just start trying to say some words .. I can't wait to hear that little voice!

Our three little blessings! I just love being a mom!

Little Helpers

Our children help with the dishes each evening after dinner. Grazzin dries the dishes and Mia dries the silverware. Kaci .. well, she just plays in the water! Tonight Grazzin had already finished his part and the girls were acting silly while Mia dried her stuff. So I grabbed the camera and took a few photos.

Loving our Husbands

I am currently reading a book entitled One with a Shepherd by Mary Somerville. I wanted to share an excerpt that asks some practical questions in how we can measure our love for our husbands.

"Have you found that marriage magnifies your own selfishness and desire for going your own way? I have. We have to learn to love sacrificially like Christ...

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. Do I go out of my way to do kind things for my husband? Do I use the same kind, patient tone of voice with him as I do with others on the phone?

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Even when he gets all the praise and thanks, do I rejoice in his accomplishments, remembering that we are one?

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. Am I excused to be irritable and touchy at certain times of the month? Do I complain and want things the way I want them, when I want them? Do I rejoice in opportunities to sacrifice so that he can pursue his calling?

It is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Do I hold grudges? Do I take offense and wear my feelings on my sleeve? Do I have pity parties?

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Do I hate evil in myself and work hard to kill sin? Do I pray for my husband's sanctification and rejoice to see God work in his life?

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Do I believe the best about my husband or grow suspicious? Do I trust that the God who allows riches or poverty, sickness or health, peace or persecution is the One who will cause all things to work together for our good as we become more than conquerors through Him who loved us?

Love never fails. Does my husband know that I will stand by his side anywhere through anything until death parts us, or our Savior returns?

With Christ-like love, marriage can be a foretaste of heaven on earth."

Look for ways to show true biblical love to your husband. I know I have many areas in need of improvement!

Bird Nests

In Science we use Apologia, which Grazzin loves. He is learning about flying creatures right now and is in the chapter about nests. Today we made our own, complete with eggs and birds!

The project was easy, fun, and edible! If you are interested in making one with your children, you can access the directions here.

Praying for One Another

Ryan, Chelsa, and Brycen,
Just wanted to let you know that you were being lifted before the throne of grace all the way out in Massachusetts. May the God of all comforts comfort you in the midst of your trial.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Becoming more like Christ through trials

Recently, I heard a lecture from Joni Eareckson Tada. She spoke on the purpose of trials and how we can use them to become more like Christ. I encourage you to watch it here. The title is God's Jewels.

PS. In case you do not know, Joni is a quadriplegic. She broke her neck in a diving accident when she was 17 and has spent her life sharing Christ with others. At the time of this lecture, she was having such extreme pain that she wasn't able to attend the coference but had to record the lecture in her office instead.
