graph of colors

Mia learned how to make a graph today in school. She had to ask several people what their favorite color was out of red, blue, green, and yellow. Then she had to graph them. Blue won!

Thanks to those who helped out by giving us their favorite color! Mia thought it was so fun.

five years old

My baby girl will turn five tomorrow. We had such a blast this past year while she was four. Here are some highlights from the past year:

She learned many new passages of Scripture. She graduated out of nursery class and sits in the worship service with her family. She learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels. She still loves playing with baby dolls and pretending to be a mom. She is learning how to share and to think of others first. She is no longer afraid of kittens or a puppy. She can say ALL the sounds for each letter of the alphabet, not just the short sounds. She can write her first and last name. She has learned how to have a quick sense of humor like her daddy. She still gives the greatest hugs! She loves to do crafts and dot-to-dot books. She no longer needs to sit in the booster at the table. She loves to listen to stories about missionaries.
The list could go on and on .. we just love her so much!

These pj's crack me up. She has been wanting pj's with feet in them for the past couple of years and I could never find any big enough for her (I always told her they were for babies and the sizes stopped at 3T .. yet she still wanted some.) Here we were at Wal-Mart last week and they had some in 5T! Mia loved them!

cupcakes

Cupcakes can only mean one thing. A little girl had a birthday! We had a great party tonight with our family. More details and photos tomorrow.

kittens

We have two kittens. Such fun! Taj had promised them some animals when we moved back to the country and they were so excited to see these two little heads peaking out of a cardboard box. We also got a free dog but the poor thing is so homely I didn't even want to post a photo. I know, that's terrible!

Fool Moon Rising

A new children's book has just been released by Kristi Fluharty and T. Lively Fluharty. Here's a description of the book:

"Through this illustrated tale about the moon stealing the sun’s glory, children learn about the importance of humility and the dangers of pride.

This rhyming, rollicking tale tells of a crime of cosmic proportions: the moon, blinded by pride, fails to see the true source of his abilities—the light provided by the sun. He boasts of his ability to shine, to change shape throughout each month, and to swell the tides. One day, overwhelmed by a piercing ray of sunshine, the moon repents of his pride and changes his ways, and from that point on he is happy to reflect the sun’s light.

This beautifully illustrated book introduces the concept of humility to children. Readers will be reminded that everything we have, including our gifts and talents, is from God. Just as the moon learns to boast only of the sun, children—and their parents—learn that to boast of anything other than the Son is utter foolishness."

My friends over at Girl Talk warn "Mom may experience more conviction than child. How much I am like that proud little moon!"

You can check out the offical website to see sketches of the book and learn more.

We will be eagerly watching the mail until our copy arrives!

creation

We have been enjoying God's creation out here in the country. Our Creator is so awesome and beyond anything we could ever comprehend!

unpacking

We are almost box free! Everything is finding a place and it's great to see the living room floor. Sure feels strange to be back in the same home we lived in four years ago.

Mia was playing with her dolls a few minutes ago and wanted me to see them. As I walked over, she declared," Now that's how you pose people for a photo!"
